Moviescramble

In case you didn’t know, Musicscramble has a sister site all about movies – Moviescramble. Like Musicscramble, it’s a mixture of reviews and opinions and doesn’t spend its time gushing about things that aren’t as hot as they should be.

We have a new writer, John, who’s been quite prolific since he started mid January, so please take a look, bookmark it, or even better yet, follow via Facebook, Twitter and/or WordPress and come back to check out regular updates.

Free Straight Lines Track

Straight Lines - Freaks Like UsFollowing yesterday’s free Soulfly track offer, today XtraMile Recordings have released a free Straight Lines track called “Freaks Like Us”.

I’m a huge fan of the band and featured their first album Persistence In This Game in my “8 Albums You’ve Probably Never Heard But Should” feature, so I urge you to grab the freebie, check out the video for forthcoming first single “Half Gone”, and go buy the first album too!

You can grab the free song directly from XtraMile Recordings landing page.

“Freaks Like Us” is the title track from their second album, due for release on 23rd April.

Straight Lines – Half Gone

Cracking up and coming alt-rock outfit Straight Lines have released a video for their first single from the forthcoming second album. ”Half Gone” will be released on February 13th via Xtra Mile Recordings.

As yet untitled, the second album should see a 2012 release and I couldn’t be happier as first album “Patience In This Game” is one of my favourites of the last few years. Continue reading

Lamb of God – New Album…

Lamb of God - ResolutionLamb of God have officially confirmed the title and track listing of their forthcoming sixth studio album. The album will be named “Resolution” and is scheduled for release on January 24th 2012.

Somewhat strangely, at least one track on the album is set to feature a choir and orchestra. Drummer Chris Adler told Gun Shy Assassin, “Yeah — there’s opera singers, a whole symphony going on — it’s crazy,” … “We were trying to figure out how to not be black metal but do something totally different. I think we succeeded.” Continue reading

Clarence Clemons (1942 – 2011)

I woke this morning to the news that the legendary Clarence Clemons died last night. At 69 he had played with most of the greats and made his mark on music, but will most be remembered as an original member of The E Street Band.

It is a sad day and I can say no more about it. Just watch the performance below, especially Clarence’s solo at the 4:20 mark from Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band’s relatively recent show at Hyde Park; one musicscramble were particularly lucky to have attended.
