Charlie Simpson – Farmer and His Gun

Charlie Simpson has released the video for “Farmer and His Gun”, the fourth single from his debut solo album Young Pilgrim. The song has a gentle, touching vibe and the animated video reflects the songs themes with a nice literal twist.

‘Farmer & His Gun’ will be released on March 25 as part of a four-track EP, which will also include a cover of Jackson Browne’s ‘Barricades of Heaven’. Continue reading

New Band Spotlight: Little Vegas Lies

Musicscramble are happy to present to you Little Vegas Lies.

Who are you and where do you hail from?
We are Little Vegas Lies, a Brit rock/indie/pop 5 piece guitar band from West Yorkshire.

Please introduce the band members.
Steve (Guitar) Simon(Vocals) Andy(Bass) Lee(Guitar) Craig(Drums)

How would you describe your sound?
We have a very British sound to our music which follows in the footsteps of The Beatles, The Who, Stone Roses, Verve and Oasis which ranges from melancholy, laid back arrangements  to uptempo, guitar driven songs.

People will like your music because…
We have an honest, grass roots sound to our music which lacks pretense, and focuses on melody above all else.

Halestorm – Love Bites (So Do I) (2012)

Halestorm are back with the first single from their new album The Strange Case Of… and it is entitled ‘Love Bites (And So Do I)’. The single is another classic slice of Halestorm following on where they left off. You can watch the video after the jump below and make up your own mind, but we at musicscramble love it.

As an aside, I saw Halestorm perform this and a full set in support to Shinedown in Glasgow last night.  It’s the third time I’ve seen Lzzy and the band, and once again believe them a force to be reckoned with.  A full review (I promise) will be posted in the coming days.

And now to the video… Continue reading

Feeder – Borders (2012)

A few weeks ago Feeder came back with a new single, ‘Borders’ which is the first from their forthcoming album Generation Freakshow and first new release since charity single ‘Side by Side‘.

I loved Feeder when I heard their second release the Swim EP was back in 1996.  They were a catchy, heavy rock band and for three albums continued to remain heavy and yet always have a hook in the song.

Then they lost their drummer Jon to suicide and (understandably) it all changed. The style of their music changed almost entirely with comeback album Comfort In Sound yet ironically this change led them to much greater commercial success, and a strong set of follow on albums. Continue reading

Young Guns – Bones (2012)

Young Guns - BonesI was a big fan of Young Guns 2010 début All Our Kings Are Dead. It was a nice slice of pop tinged rock with enough attitude and confidence to interest without the arrogance to irritate. It had a few cracking singles and catapulted the band into the public eye via radio and music television and not even on just the niche channels.

Two years later the band are back with Bones and it’s a worthy successor, full of everything I liked about the first record. Truth be told, it’s not much different really, but that can’t be considered a weakness by any means when the songs are as good as these. Continue reading
