I've listened to it on and off for years, and I just can't get into it as a whole piece, rather dipping in and out I enjoy it more. It's odd as I usually like a rawer sound and too much production can mess with music (see my Lamb of God Box Set piece to see what I mean), but with SSTB it doesn't run true for me personally.

Ah, right enough. I looked it up and it's referred to as the "time skip motif" in some places. There's a jump in time between 2nd Stage, Silent Earth and the Good Apollo's, so it makes perfect sense that it doesn't appear between parts. Good call!

It's interesting... I always like SSTB the best because it was so raw and unpolished. I think if you give it another genuine chance, songs like Junesong Provision and Delirium Trigger will start to grow on you

Ah, thanks for that. I think I've made the mistake as that'll be when I picked the album up. Should've done my research! I'll update the article accordingly when I get the opportunity

Nice article. Just wanted to mention that "My Brother's Blood Machine" was actually released about a year after Good Apollo I in October of 2006 and not in between Good Apollo II and Year of The Black Rainbow.

From what I've heard the theme represents a passage of time in the story, and since FFTTEOM and NWFT were both halves of part four there was no large passage of time between them.

Good shout Ian. I totally overlooked Nick Cave even though I own the vinyl LP of Kicking and the 7" single of In the ghetto. 'Jesus met the woman at the well' was my favourite from Kicking against the Pricks closely followed by Muddy Water.

Think my all time favourite cover is "in the ghetto" done by nick cave... The whole album (kicking against the pricks) is genius, but that song will haunt me forever...
